About Bob Chambers
Thanks for visiting my website - Bob Chambers Music 4 Media.
I was born and raised in London, England in 1956. I loved music when I was a kid and was influenced by rock n rollers of the 50s and 60s. Then came the Beatles. By the time I was around 6 or 7 I knew what I wanted to do and I could hear the guitars, bass and drums calling me.
After pestering my mum and dad for a guitar for well over a year I finally got my wish and was given my first guitar at Christmas 1965. I had no idea how to play it and it was when I started high school in 1967 that I attended my first guitar lessons.
By 1970 I was writing my own songs and joined my first band. That was the start of it all really.
Over the years I played in various bands playing all styles from rock and blues to country and Irish, playing the pubs and clubs around London.
I went to work for music publishers Screen Gems Columbia Music in 1973 and learned all about writing songs, recording music and making coffee for the writers.
By late 1974 I was recording my own material in professional recording studios, making demos, trying to get a deal.
I took my song writing career very seriously and recorded many demos and played in various bands whilst also holding down some pretty crappy day jobs.
In 1987 I moved to Cumbria and I played with a couple of bands, playing rock covers in the clubs of Cumbria and Scotland.
I moved back down south to East Sussex in 1994 and before I knew it I was playing guitar in several musical outfits and also recorded some original material with some guys I met through the local music scene.
The gig scene started to change, get smaller, and there was less opportunity for bands to get gigs as the clubs and hotels only wanted to pay for duos or solo acts. I played in a duo for a couple of years until the residencies dried up - and then I was on my own.
In 1999 I bought a computer loaded with Cubase, a Korg Trinity keyboard and a P.A. I set to work recording backing tracks so that I could go out as a singer/guitarist solo act.
Once I was fully familiar with the recording software and keyboards, I began recording my own songs and composing instrumentals - a natural progression for a song writer.
Over the years I accumulated quite a library of instrumental pieces of music that I believe would be great for videos, movies, websites, advertising, theatre and corporate events and promotions.
In 2002 I started to publish and distribute my songs and instrumental music via CD Baby to all the major distribution sites, including iTunes, YouTube, Spotify, Deezer, Amazon, etc.
I have now returned after a hiatus of 9 years to composing, recording and distributing my instrumental music (I have also been busy over the years playing bass guitar in a couple of bands) and setting up this website – BCM4media, so that you can stream, download or licence my tracks to accompany your media projects - or download purely for your listening pleasure!
2020 marked 50 years in music for me, so when you use a track from this website you’re not just getting music that’s fresh and original, you’re also buying into a musical heritage that’s is 50 years in the making.
Thanks for reading – enjoy the music!
